Have you ever watched birds building their nest?
I watched a pair of birds building for weeks. Sometimes I’d see one pick up a twig or leaf, toss it around a little and then drop it and move onto something else. The twig looked just fine to me so why did the bird not use it? Must have been some sort of intuition that convinced the bird it wasn’t right. Anyhow…The bush they decided to build in was a sturdy one, lined with long, thick thorns. Every day the birds would skillfully navigate their way through the thicket to get to the selected site with their nesting treasures. Before long the task was complete and the eggs were laid.
As I observed their behavior I realized how brilliant their habitat selection was. With the thorns (about 2 inches long) snakes could not wind their way up to the nest. Larger, predatory birds could not fit into the small places to scavenge the eggs or young hatchlings. Soon, the chorus of hungry baby birds could be heard and a constant navigation through the thorns took place by both parents to fill the empty tummies of their offspring.
IF we stay focused on God’s direction we’ll be tapped into the ultimate GPS…Gods Protective Service…and He will navigate us through life’s thorns.
Isaiah 26:3 (AMP) You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.
2 Timothy 2:15 (AMP) Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.
Psalm 121:7 (NASB) The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul.
And remember….there are times when life’s thorns CAN serve as protection.
