Doors….They can be hung, opened, closed, locked, bolted, painted and adorned. They are used to keep things in or lock things out. Doors can be a sign of hospitality or rejection; openness or deflection. We can open the door to our mind or close the door to our heart.
While researching the use of the word “door” I was amazed at how many times it appears in the Scripture. It is used to open communication between Heaven and earth…
Psalms 78:23(AMP) Yet He commanded the clouds above and opened the doors of heaven;
Revelation 4:1(AMP) After this I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven! And the first voice which I had heard addressing me like [the calling of] a [a]war trumpet said, Come up here, and I will show you what must take place in the future.
to allow entrance of the Divine…
Matthew 7:7(AMP) Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking [reverently] and [the door] will be opened to you.
Revelation 3:20(NKJV) Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
to keep sin and destruction at bay…
Genesis 4:7(AMP) …And if you do not do well, sin crouches at your door; its desire is for you, but you must master it.
Psalms 141:3(ESV) Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips!
One thing is certain…the “door” requires interaction…someone must open it and someone must close it.
Remember…Seek God’s wisdom on what you allow through your door.
1 Peter 1:15(AMP) But as the One Who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all your conduct and manner of living
