Java, brew, joe, bean juice, morning jolt…That wonderful nectar from those beautiful beans…Hot, iced, lattes, mochas…the possibilities are endless.

Everyone in my household knows, if they want to keep things civil, not to talk to me before I’ve had my coffee…It’s not that I’m not a morning person, it’s that I am a coffee person. When our son and daughter-in-law were staying with us she made a poster and plastered it in the kitchen above my coffee maker…

Making coffee requires 3 things…good coffee ground to perfection, good water and a good filter. The coffee and water can be the best God has made but without that filter you’ll end up with an unidentafiable, brown sludge…not drinkable. Ahh…the necessity of a filter.

In life…the Holy Spirit is to be our filter. He keeps us from being contaminated.

Romans 8:26(MSG) Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans.

Romans 8:6(AMP) Now the mind of the flesh [which is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit] is death [death that comprises all the miseries arising from sin, both here and hereafter]. But the mind of the [Holy] Spirit is life and [soul] peace [both now and forever].

And we need to keep that filter clean.

James 4:8(MSG) So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper. Say a quiet yes to God and he’ll be there in no time. Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life.

1 John 5:21(AMP) Little children, keep yourselves from idols (false gods)—[from anything and everything that would occupy the place in your heart due to God, from any sort of substitute for Him that would take first place in your life]. Amen (so let it be).

Then our cup will overflow with God’s glorious nectar.

Psalms 23:5(ESV) You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Remember…It is our responsibility to give proper place to the filter. HE will keep the sludge out.

In Him,
