Advertising is an amazing thing. Through it we’re convinced we need to refresh our mouth, clothes, body, upholstery, carpets, eyes, air, car and so on with the addition of a tablet, rinse, sheet, stick, spray, drop, plug-in or spritz. Sales of these products prove we do so…repeatedly.

Refresh
1: to restore strength and animation to : revive
2: to freshen up : renovate
3a : to restore or maintain by renewing supply : replenish
b : arouse, stimulate
4: to run water over or restore water to
5: to update or renew (as an image, a display screen, or the contents of a computer memory) especially by sending a new signal

When something needs refreshed, it is because it has lost it’s freshness and, as in the natural realm, we need to refresh our spirit.

God said He’d do that for us…

Jeremiah 31:25(NIV) I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.”

In Christ we are refreshed…

Matthew 11:28(AMP) Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]

After repentance, our refreshment comes from The Lord…

Acts 3:19(AMP) So repent (change your mind and purpose); turn around and return [to God], that your sins may be erased (blotted out, wiped clean), that times of refreshing (of recovering from the effects of heat, of reviving with fresh air) may come from the presence of the Lord;

We’re also told our ability to refresh others will lead to our own refreshment…

Proverbs 11:25(NIV) A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

Paul prayed for God to show mercy on those that had provided refreshment for him…

2 Timothy 1:16(ESV) May the Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains

Imagine that…receiving God’s mercy for refreshing others.

May we spend time each day being refreshed by the Living Water so we’ll be able to refresh others to the glory of God.

In Him,
Gypsy
