Edge

Footing

When we walk to the edge of all the light we have and take the step into the darkness of the unknown, we must believe that one of two things will happen. There will be something solid for us to stand on or we will be taught to fly. ~ Patrick Overton

Ever felt like you’re standing on the edge of a cliff and all it would take is a slight breeze to loosen your footing? Not a gust, but a breeze so mild it wouldn’t even rustle the grass, is all it would take to topple you over the edge.

There are times, while peering over that edge, the sight is frightening. Then there are other times, when you’ve been there for so long, the view is seductively stunning. It can mesmerize a person, almost with a calling…beckoning to the deepest chambers of your heart.

In my ponderings…I see Jesus, holding on as tight as an Alpine climber to a friend when he looses his footing and slips down the rope headed toward the precipice.

As Believers, when we find ourselves on the edge, sometimes for an extended period of time, we would do well to take our eyes off the edge and focus on a few Scriptural truths…

If we are in God’s hand…He will not let go…

Isiah 41:13(MSG) Because I, your God, have a firm grip on you and I’m not letting go. I’m telling you, ‘Don’t panic. I’m right here to help you.’

There is no enemy that can successfully stand against us…

Romans 8:31(AMP) …If God is for us, who [can be] against us? [Who can be our foe, if God is on our side?]

If the eyes of God are on us and His ears are open to our cry…we are never alone…

Psalms 34:15(AMP) The eyes of the Lord are toward the [uncompromisingly] righteous and His ears are open to their cry.

And if you’ve been on the edge for awhile…

“God never hurries. There are no deadlines against which he must work. Only to know this is to quiet our spirits and relax our nerves.” ~ A.W. Tozer, The Pursuit of God

Remember…On the edge is where we grow and on the edge we come to know the full power of God.

In Him,
Gypsy
