In the desert, people are fond of placing palm trees by pools. It makes for a beautiful landscape to be sure, however, some palms sprout tentacles which then open up and produce thousands of tiny flowers. Thousands of flowers in a single spot attract wasps and bees. Now, the problem is not with the little stinger creatures enjoying a flower nectar cocktail at the top of a tall tree. The problem is after they have indulged they come back down to earth in need of a drink of water. Ahhh…the joys of feasting by a pool! Anyhow…The other day I was sitting by the pool watching these mesmerizing critters. The wasps…they have it down like a finely tuned ballet. They come in slow and smooth, adjust their legs just before they hit the water, bring their wings up and glide right down just barely touching the surface. They drink their fill and then, just as gracefully, re-engage in flight. It’s such an awesome sight you can almost hear Bethoven playing. The bees…not so much. They haphazardly swoop in and crash land onto the surface, successfully wetting legs, belly and wings…off to a watery grave.
Sometimes I feel like those bumbling bees…awkward. I feel like the needs of the challenge are more than I am equipped for…IOW…I am inadequate.
Ever have those days?
As Believers, we have a Father who has provided for our inadequacies. And not just provided for but uses them!
1 Corinthians 1:27(KJV) But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
Besides, if Paul can “boast” of his inadequacies so can we!
2 Corinthians 12:9(ESV) But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Do I hear an Amen?!?
2 Corinthians 3:5(NASB) Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God,
It doesn’t get any more complete than that!
Remember……Embrace your inadequacy…This is where God’s glory shines, His purpose is revealed and His strength is discovered.
